In this blog I will show you how to create a transparent text with a dark outer glow effect in Adobe Photoshop.

Transparent text with (dark) outer glow
Open the photo or image you want to use. Then use the horizontal type tool to type your text. It doesn’t matter what text color you use, in the next step we will make this transparent.

Lower the fill of the text layer to 0% to make the text transparent.

Then click on the Fx icon and select ‘outer glow‘.

You can find the settings I used in the image below.
You might have to adjust the opacity, spread and size to make the effect look good on your photo. Try out some different settings until you’re happy with the effect.

Tip: You can still edit your text while keeping the outer glow effect!
And that’s how you create a transparent text with an outer glow effect in Adobe Photoshop!
