Take swatches from photo to create a color palette
In this article I will show you how to take swatches from a photo or image to create a color theme in Adobe Photoshop.

If you want, you can download the photo I used here.
Create color theme
First open the file with the photo you want to use.
Then select ‘window‘ in the top menu bar and select ‘libraries‘. Click on the + icon and select ‘extract from image‘.
Select ‘color themes‘. You can then select a color mood. For example, if you want a light color theme you can use the bright color mood. If you’re looking for a darker theme, select the dark color mood.
Try out the different color moods to see which theme you prefer.
You can also adjust the color swatch by moving the color picker inside of the photo.
If you’re happy with the color theme, you can save it. Then you can close this window.
The color theme is now saved under libraries. You can select the colors out of the theme. When you select a color, it becomes the foreground color and you can now use it for your designs.
And that’s how you take swatches from a photo or image to create a color theme or color palette in Adobe Photoshop.
